How Global Empowerment Mission & IMMUSE™ Are Helping The People Of Moz

On March 6th, 2019, Mozambique and its neighboring countries of Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Madagascar were struck by the devastating Cyclone Idai. The following week after, Mozambique continued to be battered by the after effects of this monstrous storm. From severe flooding to destructive winds, citizens across the country were left defenseless to Idai. With an infrastructure not designed for these impactful storms, millions upon millions of people were directly affected. Many lost their homes, as well as their loved ones. Hundreds were fatally wounded due to mudslides and others left with major injuries while thousands are still missing. Today, more than 100,000 people are displaced as their homes were completely destroyed, as well as their livelihoods. Entire villages were completely swallowed by the floods, leaving many to wonder what to do next and where to go. It’s currently estimated that over 1,000,000 acres of crops were completely destroyed and about 1.8 million people have been affected. As stagnant and dirty water continues to flow through every town and village, the horrible situation has created a breeding ground for harmful diseases like Cholera and Malaria to spread. With a lack of clean water, food, medicine, and other key resources, many citizens of these affected countries are left vulnerable to severe health problems.

Global Empowerment Mission And IMMUSE™ Providing Help To Those Affected

Despite the dangerous conditions following the aftermath of Cyclone Idai, Global Empowerment Mission immediately arrived in Mozambique to help those affected by the storm. Their team walked miles with villagers through swamps, rivers and grass fields in order to deliver over one tone of aid to remote villages.
